This staple of Mediterranean kitchens is high in vitamins and good for your heart. But olive oil is also very sensitive to air and light, which quickly cause it to oxidise. So, it’s very important to package the oil correctly.
Olive oil is high in monounsaturated fatty acids and antioxidants, particularly vitamin E. Olive oil brings many cardiovascular and digestive benefits, making Mediterranean diets among the healthiest in the world.
The oil is very sensitive to light and air, which quickly cause it to oxidise, go rancid and lose vitamin E. To stop it from going bad, it’s very important to package the oil correctly.
Until recently, producers mainly used tin cans to package olive oil. Now plastic and glass bottles are the most common container. But translucent packaging leaves the oil open to attack. A carton package on the other hand provides an excellent solution.
We have developed several partnerships with olive oil producers, who use our carton packages for their products. One of them is ArteOliva, a Spanish oil producer who package olive oil in Tetra Prisma® Aseptic and Tetra Brik® Aseptic packages.
